Citrine Crystal Meaning: Abundance, Energy & Everyday Uses

Citrine is a yellow to orange variety of quartz, its colour coming from traces of iron in the crystal lattice. Natural citrine is relatively rare. Much of what is sold commercially is heat-treated amethyst, which turns yellow or orange under high temperatures. Both carry similar energetic qualities, though natural citrine has a lighter, more golden tone. Citrine does not absorb negative energy, which is why it is sometimes called a self-cleansing stone.

What Citrine means

Citrine is most commonly associated with abundance, confidence, and creative energy. It is linked to the solar plexus chakra, the centre of personal power and will. People use citrine when they want to attract more of what they desire, whether that is financial flow, creative momentum, or simply a brighter outlook on the day ahead. It is a warm stone, in every sense. It does not push you toward more; it reminds you of what is already possible.

How to use Citrine

Keep a piece of citrine in your wallet or near your financial paperwork to invite a feeling of abundance and ease around money. Place it in a sunny window where it can catch the light and radiate warmth through the room. In meditation, hold citrine at the solar plexus and breathe into a sense of your own capability. Many people include citrine in manifestation rituals, writing intentions on paper and placing the stone on top. Because citrine does not need cleansing in the way other stones do, it is a low-maintenance addition to any altar or shelf.

What Citrine pairs well with

Pyrite is a natural abundance pairing with citrine, the two working together to build momentum. Green aventurine alongside citrine supports the attraction of new opportunities. Clear quartz amplifies citrine's energy in any intentional arrangement.
