How to Use Selenite to Cleanse a Space and Other Stones

If you only ever buy one tool for this practice, make it selenite. It is the rare piece that cleanses other stones, clears a room, and asks for no maintenance in return. Most people meet it after they have already collected a dozen crystals and realised they have no simple way to keep them clear. Here is how to use it from the start.

Resetting your other stones

Lay a selenite stick, slab, or charging plate down and rest your other crystals on or beside it. Leave them overnight, or for a few hours if that is what you have. Selenite does the work passively, with nothing to switch on and nothing that can scratch or soak a delicate piece. This is the safest cleansing method that exists, which is why it suits the stones that water and salt would ruin.

Clearing a space

Place a piece of selenite by a doorway, on a windowsill, or in the corner of a room that feels heavy, and let it sit. Many people keep one where they sleep or work for a steady, quiet sense of clear air. Walking a stick slowly around the edges of a room is the more deliberate version of the same idea, useful after an argument, an illness, or a houseful of guests.

The one rule: keep it dry

Selenite is water-soluble. Left in water it will cloud, soften, and eventually dissolve, so never rinse it and never leave it somewhere damp. That single rule is the whole of selenite care. Keep it dry and it will quietly outlast almost everything else on your altar.
